Since you've been reading this, hundreds if not thousands of unrecyclable plastic skincare bottles and tubes have been thrown out. You may even think it's being recycled, but not always. 

Poetry Skincare Is Different And It Makes A Difference

Here's how we happily help our planet & your skin:   

We use natural, nature identical, naturally derived and organic ingredients and we use green preservatives approved by COSMOS. We use the ingredients that have been heavily backed by years of scientific research that shows their effectiveness. The nature identical ingredients we use are niacinamide, panthenol and peptides. Where possible, we choose organic ingredients which have traceability with raw materials from farm to store. Organic raw materials ensures that our suppliers meet strict sustainability requirements which includes no use of toxic pesticides. This means that each and every one of our organic ingredients are sustainably sourced and processed which is essential to our brand. We try to stay away from Palm oil however, if we cannot find an alternative, we choose RSPO certified sustainably sourced Palm Oil ingredients.

It is important to us that our products are skin and planet safe so we are very conscious of using ingredients that do not harm our eco-system and waterways. We choose not to use phenoxyethanol due to it potentially being toxic and an irritant (to skin and our planet), so instead we choose a green, bio-compatible preservative system that is both green and effective (the green version of pentylene glycol).

We use 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET plastic which is one of the most recyclable materials in Australia and recycled glass. Through years of researching the most sustainable bottle packaging, we are delighted to announce that our Cleansing Oil and Niacinamide Serum are post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic (100% recycled/recyclable).

And our Vitamin A Face Oil is packaged in recycled glass with a glass dropper to maintain the integrity and functionality of the oils.

We avoid unneccesary non-recyclable plastic lids and instead chose travel safe twist and lock pumps for our Cleansing Oils to reduce plastic waste.

Recycled/recyclable PET is lighter to ship, is recyclable in kerbside (unlike PP plastic like most airless bottles) and does not end up in landfill. Our sustainable option creates an awe-inspiring infinite recycling loop. It's just more sustainable.

Glass can be recycled in Australia through Container deposit schemes. They encourage you to return glass products – such as bottles – directly to a local facility. This allows the facility to clean and reuse the bottle straight away, helping avoid contamination and breakages in your recycling bin.

So many Cosmetic Companies say they provide recyclable packaging. Technically this is true however, PP bottles (think airless containers) are not recyclable through kerbside recycling collection in Australia. You can take it to various drop off points (suggested above) for recycling which is fantastic however, many people are confused and are placing them into kerbside recycling which will end up in landfill. That's why we choose recycled and recyclable PET which is kerbside recyclable in Australia making it easy and simple for you to help our planet!
